Description

When it comes to these dark chocolate-covered candied oranges, here's little effort required. However, the payoff is big: they're sweet and chewy with a slightly bitter edge. The trickiest part is melting the chocolate in a double boiler, which is not saying much, You can also melt the chocolate in the microwave on medium heat. Just be sure to check it and melt in 30 second increments to avoid burning it.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups vegetable soup
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 rolls (day-old bread, Semmel or similar, cut into cubes)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ground cinnamon
  • 10 ounces white wine

Directions

  1. 1Heat the butter in a non-stick pan, toast the bread, and sprinkle it with the ground cinnamon. Set the croutons aside for later.
  2. 2Heat the broth in a medium heavy-bottom saucepan over a double boiler, or on very low heat. Add the egg yolks, heavy cream, and white wine, stirring with a whisk until creamy.
  3. 3Place the soup in individual bowls which have been warmed up, add the croutons and a sprinkling of ground cinnamon, and serve hot.
