Description

Nutty walnuts and gooey caramel make a great filling for a simple little dessert. A crisp and buttery crust is the base for this decadent dish. The caramel comes together quickly with just two ingredients, cream and powdered sugar. The caramel enrobes the walnuts before being added to the pre-baked crust. A dallop of whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon makes this simple tart complete.

Ingredients

  • 1 pastry (sweet dough)
  • 150 grams powdered sugar
  • heavy cream (20 cl.)
  • 200 grams walnuts

Directions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. 2Roll out the dough, spread in pie pan, prick with a fork, and bake for 20 minutes.
  3. 3Pour the sugar in a saucepan and add a little bit of water so all the sugar gets wet. Cook without stirring until a golden caramel is obtained.
  4. 4Add the walnut kernels and mix.
  5. 5Remove from heat, add the cream. The sugar will harden. Return to stove top over low heat, stirring continuously until the sugar melts again. Stir until caramel begins to pull away from the pan and the mixture is smooth.
  6. 6Pour the nuts and caramel mixture into the pastry. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
