Viennese Steak with Mashed Sweet Potatoes

O Meu Tempero


  • 2 sirloin steaks (or 4 small ones)
  • salt
  • white pepper
  • sweet paprika
  • flour
  • butter (for frying)
  • 1 onion (small)
  • 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
  • 500 grams sweet potatos
  • 1 Granny Smith apple
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • salt


  1. Season steaks with salt and pepper, sprinkle with paprika spreading evenly with fingers and dust with flour.
  2. Turn steaks and repeat steps.
  3. Heat butter or olive oil in a frying pan and fry steaks, to taste.
  4. Remove from pan and set aside.
  5. In the same pan, brown thinly sliced onions until almost caramelized and add vinegar.
  6. Cook sweet potatoes and mash.
  7. Add diced uncooked apple and mash again.
  8. Return mixture to pan and season with salt.
  9. Add cold butter and heat until melted.
