Description

Tzatziki is a traditional greek sauce that is served as an accompaniment to meat or as a dip. Rich, creamy yogurt is mixed with cool cucumbers and vibrant mint before getting a splash of lemon and sprinkle of salt for a satisfying and refreshing dish. Enjoy this with some sliced meat, fresh baked pita, or drizzled over a salad of crisp vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 300 grams white cheese (or Greek yogurt)
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 bunch mint
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • salt

Directions

  1. Peel and grate the cucumber. Place in a colander and salt. Drain for about 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Squeeze the cucumber to remove the maximum amount of excess water.
  3. In a bowl, mix cucumber, chopped mint, lemon juice, and olive oil. Add cheese and mix.
  4. Serve with slices of toasted bread rubbed with garlic, or bread sticks.
