Sometimes, it is nice to take your time to prepare a special meal for you and your favorite person. This Tuna, Cream Cheese, and Avocado Rice Balls take about an hour to prepare and are absolutely divine. The recipe calls for sushi rice, water, rice vinegar, salt, cream cheese, canned tuna, chile de arbol flakes or red pepper flakes, ground black pepper, and avocado. Your taste buds will thank you for this dish.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup sushi rice
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • salt
  • 80 grams cream cheese
  • 142 grams canned tuna
  • 1 teaspoon chile de arbol (flakes, or red pepper flakes)
  • ground black pepper
  • 1/2 avocado (chopped and sliced for garnish)

Directions

  1. Wash the rice 3 times to loosen the starch. Add the water, cover and cook on low heat for 15 minutes. Once the water has evaporated, turn off the heat, and let the rice rest for 20 minutes with the lid on.
  2. Add the vinegar and salt. Stir carefully and let it cool completely.
  3. Soften the cream cheese, add the tuna, chile flakes, and a pinch of black pepper and mix.
  4. With wet hands, place a layer of rice, add tuna and a piece of avocado. Cover with rice and carefully shape into balls.
  5. Serve on a bed of lettuce and garnish with avocado slices.

This recipe made me the talk of the holiday party. My friend all love sushi, and this variation was perfection. You can really play with the flavors and create different varieties based on tastes. It's very simple to make and makes others feel like you've been in the kitchen all day long.
