Description

These hors d'ouevres are easy to assemble and call for some excellent store-bought shortcuts, including frozen puff pastry, olive paste, and tomato paste, all sold at most supermarkets. Tuna pate, also used in the filling, is available at gourmet grocers and some fish markets. The pastry is simply cut into stars using a cookie cutter and half of the stars are spread with the pastes, then topped with remaining stars before being baked to perfection.

Ingredients

  • 1 rolls (ready-made puff pastry)
  • 2 teaspoons olives (chopped, paste)
  • 3 teaspoons tomato paste (cherry)
  • 3 teaspoons liver pate (tuna)
  • sesame seeds
  • poppy seeds
  • 1 egg yolks

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius.
  2. In a bowl, mix the pastes and tuna pate.
  3. Unroll the pastry and using a star cookie cutter, cut out stars.
  4. Spread a little of the paste on to a star and cover with another star.
  5. Continue until all the pastry is used.
  6. Brush with lightly beaten egg yolk.
  7. Sprinkle with sesame and poppy seeds.
  8. Bake for 13 minutes or until golden brown.
