Cheese is the ultimate comfort food. It is creamy, dreamy, and decadent. It takes a boring dinner entrée and makes it amazing. This Tuna Gratin recipe only takes 30 minutes to make so it is perfect any night of the week. How can you deny yourself this rich and succulent dish with tuna and manchego cheese. You can substitute mild cheddar, Colby or mozzarella cheese. Or add some for more flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 cans tuna (in water)
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon chicken bouillon (powder)
  • 1 cup white rice
  • 450 milliliters crema (media, may substitute half and half)
  • 300 grams manchego cheese (shredded, may substitute a mild cheddar, colby or mozzarella)

Directions

  1. Mix the tuna, onion, bouillon and milk in a bowl with a little salt.
  2. Prepare the rice, or buy precooked.
  3. In a medium-sized baking dish, place in layers:
  4. Half the tuna mixture, half the cooked rice, half the cream, half the cheese. Repeat with the other half of ingredients.
  5. Bake at 200 C for approximately 15 minutes, until the cheese
  6. browns slightly.

Loved this take on Gratin. I never thought to use tuna before, but it goes so great with the rice and cheese. I used half and half, and we loved the creaminess it brought to the dish. Very filling and delicious dinner idea that is quick and easy to make any night of the week.
