Tiramisu Mousse

If you think tiramisu, the ever-popular Italian restaurant dessert, is too difficult to make at home, you're in for a welcome surprise. This recipe can be finished in just 45 minutes, and besides beating egg whites into stiff peaks with a mixer, everything can be done by hand, and without any particular cooking skils. Rather, it's a matter of assembling the various components and allowing the flavors and textures to meld before serving, to an appreciative audience.
Ingredients
- 3 egg yolks
- 80 grams powdered sugar
- 250 grams mascarpone
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee
- 3 tablespoons hot water
- 150 grams heavy whipping cream
- 2 egg whites
- salt
- cocoa powder
- cookies (as a garnish)
Directions
- 1Beat the egg yolks with the powdered sugar until creamy and white.
- 2Mix the mascarpone cheese in well.
- 3Separately, mix the instant coffee with water and, once combined, add to the bowl.
- 4Separately, beat the heavy cream until whipped into soft peaks. Carefully fold into the mixture.
- 5Beat the egg whites with a little salt into soft peaks. Fold this into the mixture.
- 6Pour into a mold or individual glasses and refrigerate at least an hour.
- 7Garnish with cocoa powder and cookies.
