  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup celery (finely diced)
  • 1 cup onions (finely diced)
  • 1 cup leeks (finely diced)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic (minced)
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup clam juice
  • 4 red potatoes (diced, Yukon potatoes work great too)
  • 1 cup carrots (finely diced)
  • 3/4 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 3/4 tablespoon thyme
  • 6 bay leaves
  • 4 Tabasco Sauce (shakes)
  • Old Bay Seasoning (to taste)
  • 1 pound shrimp (uncooked, peeled, de-veined)
  • 2 pounds cod (or halibut or haddock, cut into 1/2-inch cubed)
  • 2 quarts half & half
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 cup milk

    Delicious. Very easy preparation and great flavor. We did add a little more seafood for our preference. Added Clams, Scallops, and subbed the Fish with 1/2 Cod and 1/2 Salmon. Also, subbed half of the potatoes with Sweet Potatoes. Overall, really great. Thanks for Recipe.

    It was absolutely delicious! Definitely on the repeat list. I used Xantham gum as a thickener so it was gluten free and now I can share with my neighbor. Yum!

    It turn really yummy. I lower the salt in the recipe . The recipe as it is is way too much salt and everything is salty , broth clam juice bay seasoning. I lower the salt and also the half and half I used only lest than 1 qt.

    Fabulous recipe. I did modify it, by adding 1 glass of white wine, 1kg mussels in the shell, a teaspoon of green curry paste. and coconut milk.

    I tweaked it with garlic butter and instead of using milk and flour to thicken it I cooked chopped up bacon and mix the flour with that to thicken it also added a tsp of dill
