This is a fantastic stew, I just threw everything in the crock pot and 8 hours later it was amazing!

Turned great. I like it if I become a hero in my wife’s kitchen.

I made this today and it was delicious. I followed the recipe exactly as stated only I had to use dried thyme. Also I added more cocktail onions than what was called for only because I didn’t know what I’d do with the extra onions. They gave the liquid part of the stew a little extra zip since they were quite tangy. I’d definitely make this again only next time I’m going to serve some bread to get all the stew liquid!

Followed the recipe exactly and it was awesome! My only ammendment would be to add a little more salt, probably with the thyme and parsly. Worth every minute of prep though.

I omitted the tomato paste and the vinegar plus doubled the recipe. I got ALL the compliments

This was my second bite at the apple. It was much better this time around. I still forgot to add peas & mushrooms, but it still good. This recipe goes into the rotation for sure.

My go-to stew! I don't have a Dutch oven so I cook the beef in a large skillet, deglaze with red wine, pour that into a crock pot and cook the mixture there. I run it for 6 hours to get the beef nice and tender. I also leave off the diced onion and just add more cocktail onions.

Fantastic the only thing I did different was use left over prime rib

Awesome recipe although I made a few tweaks. I used corn-starch instead of flour, added mixed veggies, 1 can whole peeled tomatoes, & after I browned the beef I combined all ingredients minus potatoes & mixed veggies. Panned, covered, & baked. Added potatoes & veggies later. This was my first time cooking beef stew & my husband gave me kudos ......he rarely admits my cooking is better than his.

Turned out great, will definitely make again. Nice flavour and you can adjust spices to your liking. I used flat leaf parsley sprigs and they did not hold up well. I'll use curly leaf the next time.

Excellent stew. The entire family enjoyed.

Instead of braising in the oven I simmered over low heat for about the same amount of time and it seemed to work quite well.
Meghan B. 28 Feb 2018

Surprisingly very good and I don't generally like stew. Used cornstarch instead of flour to make it gluten free. Also thickened it the last 15 minutes with additional cornstarch, but would not thicken in the future. Added turnips and served with Horseradish & Caramelized Onion Mashed Potatoes. Used blade roast which was extremely tender. Would omit the 2 potatoes I put in the stew and increase veggies. Added potatoes for the 2 in my family who like them in their stew.

This stew was wonderfully delicious and is now my favorite! It was so full bodied as layers of flavor began to unfold with each incredible bite. You know it is a remarkable stew when you think about having it for breakfast! Cooking in an enameled cast iron Dutch oven really brings out the complex, but complementary flavors. Highly recommend!

Very tender, lots of flavour. I have never cooked a stew in the oven before, Brilliant
