To make this recipe easier for when you're on the the run, I skipped all the seasoning, and beef broth and instead added 4 cups of water with a stew seasoning mix. And it was delicious!

I subbed some of the beef bullion for red wine and added mushrooms. I sealed the meat and fried onions, garlic, and mushrooms the night before and just threw everything into the pot in the morning - this made my life much easier!
Turned out great! I stuck close to the recipe and would make it again!
Overall, really good! I made it with sweet potatoes because I had them and everything else except white potatoes. Should use white potatoes. Even considering the substitution, I thought this was missing something...maybe an extra spice? Will probably make it again but will keep an eye out for an addition.
Had great flavor and consistency! Family loved it

This stew was very good. I did use cornstarch instead of flour as others suggested and I added red wine.

I have an extremly old slow cooker so that was probably my problem. next time i would cook the veggies for a half hr or so, and then add the meat. i also am not a fan of the flour i feel like it just makes everything taste starchy. i heard corn starch for stew is better so maybe i will try that next time.

Added cayenne pepper, hot paprika, garlic cloves, red wine used corn stretch instead of flour. I say cook chuck roast the day before then just dump it in crock where it is very tender. Also chopped a jalapeno in. Like things spicy! Added mushrooms as well. Big loaf of French bread and so so yummy. hubby loves the bread to lap up in the liquid. wine added a richer flavor.

I was surprised , it tasted very good, I even added a few dumplings , the reason I gave four stars I think there was too much veggie, kids don't like veggies, next time I will add less.
