  • 1 red pepper (large, cut in 2cm dice)
  • 400 grams chopped tomatoes (cans, [2 x 14oz])
  • 400 grams cans black beans (rinsed and drained [2 x 14oz])
  • 400 grams chickpeas (drained [14oz])
  • 250 milliliters water ([UK 8fl oz / US 1 cup])
  • 1 onion (large, finely chopped)
  • 4 garlic cloves (crushed)
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder (according to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 2 limes
  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon caster sugar
