Description

Filled with fresh strawberries and melty chocolate and hazelnut cream, these dessert wontons are the perfect ending to an Asian inspired meal. They also make an attractive dessert option when entertaining. All you need are wonton wrappers, fresh strawberries, chocolate and hazelnut spread, your favorite jam, oil for frying, and powdered sugar to sprinkle on your finished sweet wontons. This recipe recommends using ginger jam for a little added spice to your filling.

Ingredients

10 wonton wrappers
5 strawberries (diced)
3 tablespoons chocolate-hazelnut spread
ginger jam (optional)
oil (for frying)
powdered sugar

Directions

1In the center of each wonton wrapper, place a teaspoon of diced strawberries, some chocolate hazelnut spread, and a dollop of ginger jam (optional). Do not overfill.
2With your finger dipped in water, wet all 4 sides of the wonton wrapper. Bring one corner up towards another, forming a triangle. Then bring the other 2 corners towards each other, forming a crown. Pinch these last 2 corners together.
3Heat up 1 to 2 fingers of oil in a skillet or wok and, when hot, fry the wontons on each side until golden and crunchy.
4Drain on paper towels and, once cooled a bit, sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
