This spirited recipe is an excellent introduction to Beirão, the incredibly popular (and notably sweet) Portuguese liqueur that's made with a trade secret blend of herbs and spices "from around the world," and which is used to make a tremendous variety of cocktails there. Here, the liqueur is added to a puree of strawberries and lemon and served over ice, with a cinnamon stick garnish that doubles as a stirrer.
- Blend the strawberries and lemon in a blender until pureed.
- In a glass, pour the crushed ice, the strawberry pulp, and Beirão Liquor to taste. Fill the rest of the glass with ice, add the cinnamon stick, and stir.
- Serve immediately with straws.
