Sticky Lemon Bun


  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup grated lemon peel (from about 3 lemons)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons raisins
  • 2 tablespoons grated lemon peel
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon buttermilk


  1. 1To prepare Dough, preheat oven to 425°F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2Add flour, lemon peel, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt to Bowl of KitchenAid® Artisan Stand Mixer. Attach Bowl and Flat Beater to Mixer. Turn to Speed 3 and mix 1 minute.
  3. 3Continuing on Speed 3, add milk, cream and butter to flour mixture; mix until just incorporated. Stop Mixer and scrape Bowl. Remove Flat Beater and attach Dough Hook. Turn to Speed 4 and knead 7 minutes.Transfer dough to lightly floured work surface. Roll out to large rectangle about ¼-inch thick.
  4. 4To prepare Filling,Brush dough with lemon juice and then again with butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon, sugar, lemon peel and raisins, covering the entire surface.
  5. 5Starting at wide edge, roll up dough into tight cylinder. Cut into 1-½-inch-thick pieces. Place onto prepared pan. Bake 20 minutes. Remove and cool for 5 minutes.
  6. 6To prepare Glaze, add all ingredients to clean Mixer Bowl. Attach Bowl and Wire Whip to Mixer. Turn to Speed 3 and mix 3 minutes or until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls.
