  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 pods cardamom
  • peppercorns (lightly smashed 5)
  • green chilies (slit lengthwise 2-3)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 7 clove
  • onions (finely chopped 2 large)
  • tomatoes (finely chopped 3 large)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • tamarind water (See Note 2  1/4 cup)
  • coconut milk (See Note 3 1 cup thin)
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 10 curry leaves
  • salt (to taste)

    It’s basic.. the cardamom and cinnamon will get masked by the coconut milk. So adding it isn’t necessary.
