Not your average breadsticks, these get their flavor from malted barley, tuna pate and caper pate. The dough is shaped into baguette form and left to rise before it's rolled out, cut into breadsticks and baked on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Enjoy them warm, or refrigerate the breadsticks in an airtight container. Warm them or bring to room temperature before serving, with or without butter.

Ingredients

  • 1 chicken (cut into pieces)
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 ounces white wine
  • lemon juice
  • rosemary
  • sage
  • salt

Directions

  1. Place the oil in the slow cooker.
  2. Add the chicken.
  3. Pour the white wine and the juice of 1 lemon over the chicken.
  4. Add the sage, rosemary, and the salt, to taste.
  5. Stir to season and cook on low for 4 hours and on high for 1 hour.
  6. Serve.

This is a very simple recipe, typical of the slow cooker process that instructs you to just dump in all the ingredients and turn on the cooker. What sets this one apart, though, are the seasonings. White wine, lemon juice and olive oil combined with rosemary and sage take this from simple supper to sophisticated dinner.
