It was absolutely delicious! I substituted prosciutto for the bacon because I had some that needed to be used. I will be making this again.

very yummy dish, and definately worth trying. I added an onion at the beginning (with all of the other ingredients) and at the end i removed some of the stew broth and reduced it with more red wine (maybe 1/3c), extra garlic (about 1Tbs chopped) and dried Thyme (about 1Tbs) before adding it back to the slow cooker to ramp up the flavor.

It actually turned out pretty good. I had my 14 yr old help with the prep work and we went to town on it for dinner.

We followed the directions pretty much verbatim, and the results were delicious. It kept well in the fridge as well, making for leftovers for many more meals.

great simple recipe. i actually made it with half the beef and it was still wonderful.

Not bad but the beef was a little dry

turned out very well. only next time will have to mix the soy sauce and chicken chicken broth with the flour first then slowly pour that blend into the pan to avoid the flour from pasting up

Amazingly good!!! I used sherry cooking wine, though everyone else in the reviews was against using cooking wine....it was fabulous! Maybe next time I will try it with a Malbec or a Pinot noir

Delicious but skip the bacon and the bacon fat. It makes it very greasy!!

It’s was delicious! I didn’t use mushrooms, but added celery and onion. I too added a tablespoon of sugar and used Pinot noir red wine :-) My children liked it also.

This recipe is bomb! Definitely not the type of recipe where you just dump everything in the crockpot and go, but the extra steps are worth the effort. Searing the meat does create a lot of extra juice in the pan, but I used it anyway. The other difficulty I encountered was adding flour to the sauce, as it became granulated. However, it all melted together at the end of it all. I think the flavors are great! Just add a toasted piece of sourdough and you’re good to go!

Delicious but too greasy. Next time I will cook the beef in only a bit of bacon grease and not all of it. Also, I’ll add more veggies and leave out the potatoes and serve over noodles or mashed potatoes. The flavor of this is phenomenal!!
Autumn M. 26 Oct
Delicious! I did NOT use cooking wine. I used a good Pino Noir. Never use wine you wouldn’t drink. Followed the directions exactly otherwise. Served over mashed potatoes. I will make again!

Very good . Abundance of flavor!

Cooking wine is horrible & should NEVER be used!...Please revise to *dry red wine* as Julia Child would use:)
