These tasty morsels can served as part of an appetizer plate or serve as an entree with rice noodles and steamed Asian vegetables.


  • 1 1/2 lb. boneless pork loin (sliced into stir-fry strips)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 Tbsp. rice vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh ginger root (grated, or 1 tsp dry ginger)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 Tbsp. sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 slice fresh ginger root
  • 1 Tbsp. oyster sauce
  • 8 oz. tofu (cubed)

    1. For Pork Skewers: Soak 8 wooden skewers for 20-30 minutes in water. Thread pork onto skewers. Place in a 12x9-inch baking dish.
    2. Combine remaining ingredients for skewers (soy sauce, rice vinegar, 1 tbs ginger root, garlic clove, red pepper flake) and pour over skewers, turning to coat. Marinate for 30 minutes, turning once or twice. Discard remaining marinade.
    3. Broil 6 inches from heat for 10 minutes, turning to cook all sides. Serve with peppered tofu (tofu directions follow), if desired.
    4. For Peppered Tofu: Heat 1 tablespoon sesame oil in a frying pan, add dried red pepper and 1 thin slice fresh ginger. Cook and stir over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Stir in oyster sauce; add cubed tofu, and stir to heat through and coat with sauce.
