This recipe is close to the way we (my mother, my siblings, my wife, and myself) have always made it, without enough variation to even mention. (Okay, maybe molasses, maybe not.) and they are always gone at the end of the meal, and everyone asks how they're made. Not oven baked, just slowly simmered down on the stove in the same way you do a big ol' pan of sweet potatoes/brown sugar, butter, etc. When they are done, they can sit and be rewarmed if necessary, and are great left over out of the fridge in the morning before anyone else wakes up and gets to them. (If there are actually any left over.)

MaryAnn...my mother has made these for years.Everywhere we take them the recipe is requested.We do NOT measure anything....our taster is our measurements..We cook ours in a Large CAST IRON skilled....start with your onion and bacon ....sautee till cooked propertly....do not burn .....Drain the can of BEANS and add to bac &onion....add ALOT of brown sugar,..follow with about a 1/2 cup or MORE of molasses, YELLOW mustard not a ton...maybe a few tablsp or more... enough you will taste the difference....KETCHUP just a tad more than the mustard..heat till it is very hot stirring occasionally taste,should be somewhat sweet but not over powering sweet..........TRY IT AGAIN!!!! :) Oh and we make ours by the GALLON can of beans and always are GONE at the end of the meal.

Turned out aweful! Erased immediately! Dosent need to cook that long or needs to be in smaller dish, I don’t know because it dosent say.
