I used sour cream and the only thing I changed was no peas and used 1/2 can creamed corn and 1/2 can corn. I also used almost 2 tsps of paprika and salt/pepper on potatoes too. AMAZING dish and worth the prep time.

Very easy with few ingredients, and tasty too. We made a larger portion, and put potatoes on top and bottom. We added things to ours such as green onions. We also added seasonings to the potatoes not just the meat for flavor all the way through.

Traditionally Shepard's Pie is made from lamb/mutton. When a sheep was needed for the pantry the Farmer would give the flaps of the lamb/mutton to the Shepard, hence the Shepard's Pie. If it was made from beef then it was called a Cottage Pie. Just saying.

Awesome recipe! One of my families favorite's. I make this at least once a month. I do add more meat and potatoes to the recipe so that it is thicker. I also use gluten-free flour to make this recipe.
