I just love seafood, especially Seared Ahi Tuna. This recipe is perfect for warm summer months and can be served along a hearty side dish like quinoa, or something a little lighter such as fresh asparagus or summer squash. The Beau loves tuna, though I rarely serve it. When I came across these two beautiful Ahi Tuna Steaks, I just couldn’t resist trying out some

Ingredients

  • 2 ahi tuna steaks (6-8 oz each, 3/4" thick)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons tamari sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ginger (freshly grated)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 green onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice

Directions

  1. Combine the sesame oil, tamari sauce, grated ginger, garlic, lime juice and onion in a bowl and mix together. Gently place tuna in bowl. Cover tightly and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
  2. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium high heat. Add the steaks and sear for 1-1.5 minutes on each side. You can sear an extra 30-60 seconds if you do not want your steaks as rare as shown in the picture.
  3. Remove from the pan and slice into 1/4″ thick slices. Sprinkle with some remaining green onion slices.
