Description

This recipe for homemade Scones will give you a reason to throw a tea party, even if it is just a tea party for one! This scone recipe uses yeast as a leavening agent to give you a light and fluffy result. The addition of raisins adds a burst of flavor in each bite. Brush each scone with an egg wash before baking. Serve with butter, honey, and jam or make a clotted cream in the English fashion.

Ingredients

  • 450 grams flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 50 grams butter (diced)
  • 250 milliliters milk
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 eggs (beaten)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 210 degrees Celsius.
  2. In a bowl, add the flour, yeast, and sugar. Mix and add the butter, dissolve using your hands. Make a hole in the middle of the flour and add the milk and raisins. Knead until the dough is sticky.
  3. Divide the dough and shape into spheres. Flatten and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with the beaten egg.
  4. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. Serve warm, spread with butter, honey, or jam.
