Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups self rising flour
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons butter (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup milk (1 tbsp reserved)
  • jam (to serve)
  • heavy cream (to serve)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly grease a baking tray.
  2. Sift flour into a large bowl. Cut in butter. Add milk and 1/2 cup water. Mix quickly into a soft, sticky dough. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead lightly. Press into a 3/4 inch thick disc and cut into 2 inch discs. Place on prepared tray, brush with reserved milk and bake for 12-15 mins.
  3. Let cool on a wire rack. Serve with jam and cream.

Really yummy and fun to make!!!! the family loved it and was eaten fast. Nice with ice-cream on the side as a treat.
