Description

Named for the braided hair this sweet bread resembles, this recipe is leavened with brewer's yeast. After it's left to rise, it's rolled out and spread with a sugar and butter filling; then, it's braided, baked and garnished with cocoa or powdered sugar. Cinnamon sugar is another common filling. Ingredients

1 sheet pastry dough (puff)
250 grams ricotta cheese
100 grams grated parmesan cheese
1 eggs
100 grams prosciutto (sliced)
ground nutmeg

Directions

1Preheat the oven to 180C.
2Combine the ricotta cheese with the parmesan cheese, the egg, and a pinch of nutmeg in a bowl.
3Roll out the puff pastry dough and spread the ricotta cheese filling on top. Add the prosciutto slices.
4Roll up the dough and cut it into 2 centimeter wide slices.
5Place the slices on a wax paper-lined baking sheet and bake for approximately 20 minutes.
6Serve warm.
