Love these! I first had them 30+ years ago as an undergrad, using Bisquick, of course — my family was big on boxed mixes. Something made me look them up here, and I’be become very popular, hading them out to the neighbors! One thing that’s not clear in the recipe, though: when I think “breakfast sausage,” I think of links. This recipe definitely calls for bulk, either in the little tubes, or from the butcher. (My first time, I got links, and it took some doing to get the meat out of the casings. But that’s a tiny quibble!) One of my favorite things about these is that they work just fine in my toaster oven, even though it maxes out at 385. It just takes a bit longer, but these are so easy and tasty, I expect I’ll be keeping a bunch of them handy all the time! Oh, and one little secret: they’re at least as delish cold — I just grab 1 or 2 from a container in the fridge, and my snack is complete!
