Turned out amazing. super easy recipe considering I’ve never made a cake from scratch before. I was scared that it wasn’t gonna turn out cause the batter was like a liquid but it had risen a lot of turned into a beautiful moist chocolate cake I was also nervous about the cinnamon but you really can’t taste it too much and it actually added a nice flavor. It looked exactly like the picture

This cake is so easy to make and it tastes great. Topped it with buttercream chocolate icing- yum! Followed the directions exactly- very pleased!

It tastes fantastic! But I had a mishap in the oven, when I filled my cake pan with the whole amount, not knowing it should have went into 2 pans. (My pan must not have been big enough to accommodate growth). Will redo tomorrow and make this again, with a bigger pan.

I have been making this same recipe for over 15 years and my mom, even longer. It has been around for a very long time. I have made MANY birthday cakes and wedding cakes using this recipe. Absolutely, moist and delicious with no modifications. Our tried and true family go to recipe!!😋

Although it taste amazing, it did not come out of the pan easily. It actually broke many times so I couldn't really do what I wanted. And yes, I greased the pan.

Probably the best cake I’ve ever made, it’s so yummy and moist. I reduced the sugar slightly but I made my own icing which made up for it

I put half the sugar as I used cacao with sugar, also I put half of the boiling water. Worked out perfect!! Delicious and fluffy, soft cake! I added dried orange, tastes wonderful.

It’s pretty good it’s just....not chocolatey like how i wanted next time I’ll use some melted chocolate chips in the cake batter. My kids didn’t like it at all. 😂lol i substitute veggie oil for olive oil.

This recipe needs an addendum to state a need for altitude adjustment. Without one, I made an assumption that it would be okay...but it sunk like an inactive volcano. Please add correction for 3500 ft. and above. Thanks.

I made a couple of changes. Instead of boiling water, I used strong coffee and omitted the cinnamon. The coffee enhanced the chocolate flavor. It was a very light and tender cake. I topped it with a wonderful chocolate ganache. It was an easy and delicious cake!

It turned out fairly well, the texture was very light and fluffy but there was a bit too much cinnamon for my taste. Just have to use a little less cinnamon next time!

Everyone loved this cake! The cinnamon gives it an unexpected sweetness without being too sugary. I love being able to use a homemade cake with an icing from the store to make serving it a little quicker

It was great! I made 6 medium sized cupcakes and the I put the remainder in a loaf pan. It had so much flavor and was moist. I didn’t put frosting on it but it still was awesome.

Brilliant!!! I don’t bake but this one had me look like a pro.

I can’t believe how perfect this cake is—everyone loved it! Rich chocolate flavor without overkill, moist but a nice crumb, not heavy. I did cut the hot water to half a cup, as many recommended. Went well with coffee buttercream frosting.

Amazing, I need the recipe for filling and ganache pls

good! definitely use a 1/2c of water not a full cup

This is the first chocolate cake I made from scratch & it was a hit! It is a super moist cake & I made a peanut butter frosting to cover it, which was an awesome combination. I will be making this one again.
