Description

A traditional Portuguese cake with a sweet lemony tang. Coated in cinnamon and sugar, this cake is your favorite lemon cake and snickerdoodle cookie in one. Enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs (or 4 medium eggs)
  • 100 grams lard
  • 80 grams butter
  • 1 lemon zest
  • 200 grams flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • sugar (to sprinkle)
  • cinnamon (to sprinkle)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Grease a pan with lard and sprinkle with flour. Set aside.
  3. Sift the sugar, and add the eggs. Beat well.
  4. Add the margarine and the lard, previously softened in the microwave. Beat again.
  5. Add the lemon zest, flour, and baking powder. Mix without beating.
  6. Place the dough in the baking pan and bake for about 35 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
