Sandwiches can be basic and satisfying, though making them with homemade bread ups the ante considerably. This foundational take is sweetened lightly with honey and a touch of sugar, offering a no-fuss standby that is reason alone to break out the bread machine any day of the week. Just be sure to have some quality butter handy — you'll want to slather it on a sample when the bread is done.

Ingredients

  • 150 grams warm water
  • 8 grams yeast (brewer’s)
  • 100 grams milk
  • 80 grams sunflower oil
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 250 grams all purpose flour
  • 250 grams flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in the warm water and place it in the bread machine. Add the milk, oil, sugar, honey, flour, and salt.
  2. Set the machine to the basic function (approximately 3 hours), light crust.

Bread machine does all the work here. The honey is a nice touch and makes for a sweet flavor with all sorts of sandwiches!
