Roasted Red Onions

Description
Red onions are more often than not used raw, typically sliced and added to salads and sandwiches and the like. Here, however, the onions are cut into quarters and roasted in the oven along with breadcrumbs and a drizzle of olive oil. Similar to other types of onions, they turn wonderfully sweet and the natural sugars are caramelized during cooking, and they make a delicious side dish for roast chicken or pork.

- Preheat the oven to 190C.
- Peel the onions and cut them into quarters.
- Grease an oven dish, place the onions inside the oven dish, season them with salt, sprinkle with breadcrumbs and drizzle with some oil.
- Bake for approximately 40 to 45 minutes.
- Remove the oven dish from the oven and serve warm.
