Dessert is never easier than when it's based on fresh fruit, as in this supremely simple recipe. If you're unfamiliar with persimmons, there are two different types: larger Hichaya, which is shaped like an acorn, and smaller, flatter Fuyu. Both have a sweet flavor that's reminscent of honey, but the Hichaya needs to be very soft before it reaches that stage (otherwise it can be extremely bitter). You can use either type here.


  • 1 persimmon
  • 5 walnuts (crushed)
  • honey (to taste)
  • cinnamon (to taste)


  1. Peel the persimmon. Cut it in half or into small pieces.
  2. Sprinkle the walnuts over the persimmon. Drizzle with honey and dust with cinnamon. Serve.
