Description

Here's yet another delicious reason to keep store-bought puff pastry in your freezer. Rather than making a traditional yeast dough from scratch, a process that takes several hours or more, these calzones can be prepared, start to finish, in less than an hour. They are filled with a blend of cheeses (use your own favorite varieties) and a bit of diced pancetta. Serve them hot, with marinara sauce, if desired.

Ingredients

  • 1 pastry dough (round sheet puff)
  • 1 mozzarella cheese (diced)
  • 150 grams cheese (mixed, diced)
  • 50 grams bacon (pancetta, diced)
  • parmesan cheese (grated)
  • milk (for brushing)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200C.
  2. Combine the mozzarella, the mixed cheeses, and the bacon in a bowl.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry dough and place the filling on half of the dough.
  4. Fold over the remaining dough into a crescent shape, seal the ends well, and brush with some milk.
  5. Bake for approximately 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the calzone from the oven and serve warm.
