I added spinach and one leftover chicken sausage, diced. A real hit, served with cornbread.

Pretty good, I'd leave out the red pepper flakes next time. I had to cook a little longer and I'll make this again.

Very simple, quick and packed with goodies. I added a bunch of roughly chopped kale in the middle of cooking time. Came out great and more colourful of course. Also simmered 10 minutes longer than the recommended time. Lentils came out more tender.
Add more cumin on your portion for easier digestion. Definitely making it again. Thank you!!!

Very good and easy to make. Was a little spicy for my taste, so I will need to play with the spices to get it to 5 star rating. Family enjoyed and I need more protein in my diet, so this will easily become a staple soup.

This was delicious! I followed the recipe as directed but held off on putting in the black beans till later in the cooking process. I let it all cook about 35-40 minutes and the carrots were still al dente and perfect!

it was great! I used a little less red pepper flakes than what it calls for and it was still pretty spicy. Not too spicy though.

It was ok. I'm not sure why I keep trying to convince myself I like red pepper flakes, should have omitted and I might have liked it more.

So good. I actually subtituted Chick pea and White bean for the black bean and it was amazing. Such lovely flavour. More like a spicy hearty stew. We baked home made sourdough rolls to go with it. Definitely will try it with black bean next time and maybe some spinach? The lentils needed a little longer than 30mins to cook, more like 50mins? which also seemed to help the flavour permeate the dish more.

This is an amazing soup! I followed this recipe almost exactly— I just added spinach and turmeric. I was skeptical about putting the raw lentils with canned beans at the same time but it turned out delicious! I cooked for longer though. Either way, it was so filling and easy for a beginner cook like myself. I made homemade tortilla chips to go along with it, super good!

This was very flavorful, but feel recipe doesnt give good direction for non cooks. i soaked the lentils for 3 hours then cooks them alone with broth for about an hour before added other ingredients. i also added a little more seasoning than stated. it is really good. will definitely make again.

Thick healthy and satisfying. Great for batch cooking for work. I added mushrooms and doubled the spices in the recipe otherwise kept it the same

I had to subtract a few ingredients because I was running low in the fridge, so let me tell you that lentils and black beans are crucial, everything else is optional. Absolutely amazing dish that I made early for dinner, but the family ended up eating for breakfast because it was so delicious. Can't wait to try this again with all the ingredients when a 'lesser' version turned out so well!

This is delicious and so easy. I used fire roasted diced tomatoes and that added a lot. I may add mushrooms next time.

It turned out amazing. Nothing needed tweaking. I might have used more salt and I left out the cumin just because I don’t like it. I will definitely be making this again.

Surprisingly fantastic flavor for such a simple recipe. Probably the fastest prep I’ve ever seen for a soup
