Ingredients

  • 150 grams vegetable shortening (at room temperature)
  • 100 grams confectioners sugar
  • pink food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 300 grams flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • confectioners sugar (Additional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 Celsius.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar. Add the food coloring and vanilla. Mix, adjusting color as necessary.
  3. Add the flour and mix into a dough. Turn out onto a table and knead. Roll out the dough and form into shapes with a cookie cutter.
  4. Place the cookies onto a silicone or parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Bake for 25 minutes until lightly golden on the bottom.
  5. Remove from oven and let cool completely before sprinkling with confectioners sugar.

You never said when to add the baking power or soda and now my cookies are ruined. It sucked so i went a bought a chocolate cake but it's cool.

I made these for my mother in law for her celebration party for overcoming cancer. They are perfect and festive and the pink color makes them a real treat. They are essentially sugar cookies with food coloring added. I used a bit less flour than the recipe called for, about a ¼ cup less.
