These rolls come together with just a few simple ingredients and are great for bringing to a picnic or other gathering. Since the rolls are pretty basic, you can use them for a variety of things. They are sturdy enough to support a burger but soft enough to be enjoyed with a smear of butter or as the base to a sandwich. No matter how you serve them, these rolls are sure to be the star of your picnic.

Ingredients

  • 300 milliliters water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon fleur de sel (sea salt)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered milk
  • 500 grams flour
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons yeast (dry organic)
  • egg yolks (for brushing)

Directions

  1. Place all the ingredients in the bread-making machine and select the pastry program.
  2. When you finish the program, pour the pastry in a floured surface and split it into 12 small balls.
  3. Shape the balls always leaving the imperfect side down.
  4. Place the balls on a baking tray lined with baking paper separated by 2 cm. Cover them with cling film greased with butter and let them rest for 30 minutes in a warm place.
  5. Remove the cling film, brush the balls carefully with the egg yolk and bake in preheated oven at 420ºF for 10 minutes.
  6. Let it cool for 5 minutes and remove the balls to a grid.
