Description

Make your own tasty turkey burgers at home with this recipe for Peru Burgers. Made with lean turkey meat, these burgers are full of protein and low in calories. Served in a toasted pita with a homemade dijon mustard and mayonnaise celery sauce along with your favorite burger toppings, these Peruvian inspired burgers are juicy and full of delicious flavor. Ingredients

  • 4 servings:
  • 2 celery sticks (small)
  • salt (to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons mustard (L'ancienne, or similar)
  • 2 teaspoons dijonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 250 grams turkey meat (minced)
  • 3 scallions (chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons chives (chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons red pepper (frozen chopped)
  • 2 mint leaves
  • 1/2 malagueta pepper
  • salt (to taste)
  • pepper (pink, to taste)
  • olive oil (flavored, to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 pita bread
  • 4 leaves lettuce (chopped)

Directions

  1. Celery Sauce Preparation:
  2. In a small bowl, add all the ingredients, and stir until creamy, as pictured.
  3. Burger Preparation:
  4. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients well.
  5. Shape 4 burger patties with the mixture.
  6. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in skillet, and cook the burgers for 5 minutes on each side.
  7. While the patties are cooking, toast the pita bread slightly, then cut open with a knife.
  8. Place the cooked turkey burgers in the bread, add the lettuce, and the celery sauce on top.
