This is a tasty and easy frosting recipe that is great for the holidays,
- 2 pounds powdered sugar
- 1 stick softened butter
- 1/2 crisco shortening
- 5 candy canes (crushed)
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla
- 1 pinch salt
- water (for thinning)
- Add your powdered sugar, butter, Crisco, vanilla and salt to a large mixer. Blend the ingredients together well adding in one tablespoon of water at a time until you reach a smooth and creamy consistency. Be careful not to add to much water in as your frosting will be to running to pipe. Fold in the crused candy canes.
- For a more intense peppermint flavor allow the frosting to chill overnight in an covered container. Leftover frosting will be good in the fridge for up to two week. Also freezers well..
- Garnish with more crushed candy canes.
