  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 16 ounces beer (tall boy of, emptied and refilled half way with water)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup water (boling)
  • 1/4 cup sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 8 plums (Italian prune, or 4 regular plums, split in half and pitted)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger (grated)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic chili sauce (Chinese)
  • 6 scallions (white and light green parts only, finely sliced lengthwise)
  • 1 cucumber (small, seeded and cut into 4-inch long matchsticks)
