With just four ingredients and 20 minutes in the oven, these pear pastries are a quick and elegant treat. Flaky pastry with a slight crunch envelopes a warm pear and chocolate filling. Sprinkled with brown sugar for a caramelized topping, the warm flavors of these pear pastry puffs will wipe all your winter blues away.

Ingredients

  • pears
  • chocolate chips
  • puff pastry
  • brown sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Peel and seed the pears, and cut into thin strips.
  3. With a cookie cutter shape of your choice, cut several pieces of puff pastry.
  4. Form pairs of clouds this way.
  5. Garnish with pears and a few chocolate chips.
  6. Optionally, without chocolate.
  7. Close the clouds tightly by pressing its edges.
  8. Sprinkle a little brown sugar on each cloud so it caramelizes.
  9. Place on a baking pan and bake for 20 minutes.

These pastries were crusty and flaky on the outside and warm, soft and delicious on the inside. I brushed a little butter on the outside of the clouds, before baking, then sprinkled with cinnamon.
