Description

If you want a warm sweet treat that melts in your mouth, then this Pears Poached in Spicy Syrup is just the dish to warm your heart and soul. The spices used are aromatic and savory. These pears are perfect after a hearty meal where you want to have a sweet dessert, but you don’t want something heavy.

Ingredients

US|METRIC
  • 300 grams water
  • 300 grams sugar
  • 3 star anise
  • 2 vanilla pods
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6 pears

Directions

  1. Pour the water and sugar in a large saucepan. Add the star anise, vanilla pods, and cinnamon. Simmer for 10 minutes or until it becomes a syrup.
  2. Wash and peel pears. Cut them in half lengthwise.
  3. Place the pears in the syrup and let them cook 15 to 30 minutes.
  4. Remove from the pan and serve warm.
