Salsa is perfect on traditional Mexican faire, as well as salads, soups, sandwiches and pasta. This Papaya Habanera Salsa combines the sweet flavors of papaya, lemon and brown sugar. It then combines powerful palate pleasing spices and finally, to kick it up a notch, add chili habanero peppers to overwhelm the senses with heat and flavor. Your taste buds will jump for joy. And your family will love it. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 papaya (ripe, chopped)
  • 1/2 chili habanero pepper (cut into thick slices)
  • 1 tablespoon red onion (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 garlic cloves (grated)
  • 1/2 centimeter ginger (grated)
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • salt (as much as you prefer)

Directions

  1. 1Blend all of the ingredients in a blender until everything is completely liquefied into a sauce.
  2. 2Pour the sauce into a pan and heat it up over medium heat for 10 minutes.
  3. 3Let the sauce cool off and pour it into a container.
  4. 4 Note: The sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for 1 week.
