Shape these pastries into hearts to share on Valentine’s Day, or any other day you wish to make an impression. Rolled in sugar and cinnamon, these fried delectable treats are great when you want something other than cinnamon rolls. For Valentine’s Day, try substituting red sprinkles for the sugar.

Ingredients

  • flour
  • pastry dough (Puff, frozen or fresh)
  • sugar
  • cinnamon
  • 1 egg

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200C.
  2. Sprinkle the kneading surface with sugar to prevent the dough from sticking.
  3. Stretch the dough using a rolling pin.
  4. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top. Fold the left and right edges towards the center, resulting in a rectangle. The edges should meet at the middle.
  5. Brush some egg on top, sprinkle with sugar and fold towards the center twice more, resulting in a long strip.
  6. Using a very sharp knife, cut 1 centimeter thick slices. Place on a baking tray and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.

In my house pastries are a must have. In order to avoid the ordinary, I tried this recipe. It was gone within a matter of an hour my family loved them so much. I would definitely make this 5 star recipe again.
