  • 5 bone (chicken thighs, in and skin on)
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder

    Very tasty. I doubled recipe so it cooked an hour. Predominant flavors are chili powder and cumin

    Turned out excellent, but I added a couple of twists. Firstly I cooked it on an open braai to infuse that fireside smoke. Secondly for more flavour I added boerewors cut into 2cm pieces and cooked in with chicken. The rest was as the recipe.

    Was exactly like a paella the rice tasted like the ones at Nandos I changed the thighs for drumsticks as it was easier to eat

    tried it and loved it, but I didn't have an oven so let it cook on the stove while mixing from time to time.. when the rice was almost cook I placed in the chicken and let it fully cook.

    delicious!! i didnt put it in the oven because i wasnt sure if my pans were oven safe. i left it on the stove and it turned out fine. easy clean up. i would make it again

    really yum! i had mine covered and simmering on the stove for 30 minutes instead of baking and got a yummy caramelised crust on the bottom

    Turned out well. Rice was tender, chicken juicy. Very minimal effert for this dish. Added cheese at the end of baking because, cheese! Easy weekday dinner. Will make again.

    I don't have a cast iron skillet, so needed to put all ingredients in a casserole dish after preparing everything according to the directions in my skillet. That all worked out - eventually, as I doubled the recipe for a large group. However, I didn't account for the baking time, and after one hour the rice was still totally hard and the liquid absolutely not absorbed. Had to leave for the event and turned oven down to 250 degrees. Returned home after 2 more hours, and it was perfect! Oh, and I used boneless and skinless thighs, which for the supposed crowd, were going to be easier. They ended up being excellent along with the rice. Friends with whom I shared it have also requested the recipe - so that means it was ultimately a success! So, the moral of this story is - if you double the recipe, be careful about the baking time!

    My husband and I loved this! I did not have salsa so I added a cup of diced can tomatoes and a small can of diced mild chili’s. Very easy to make and yummy!!
