Curry meets the ocean in this unique octopus curry. Made with beer and bacon, this savory dish reaches its full potential over a bed of rice. Only a saucepan needed for cooking.

Ingredients

  • olive oil (to taste)
  • 1 onion (medium)
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 4 parsley sprigs (chopped)
  • 1/4 red pepper
  • 100 grams bacon (cut in thin strips)
  • 500 grams cooked octopus
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 beer (mini)
  • salt (to taste)

Directions

  1. In a saucepan, over medium heat in little olive oil, add the onion, garlic, parsley, pepper, and bacon. Season with salt to taste.
  2. Cook for 7 to 10 minutes.
  3. Add octopus, tomato paste, and curry. Stir very well.
  4. Once it starts boiling, add the beer, and wait until it boils again.
  5. Cook for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve warm with rice.

This dish has the right combination of flavor and spice. I substituted the octopus for shrimp. I couldn't find octopus where I live. This is great served along with rice. My family likes spicy food, and they loved this. They have already requested that I make this again.
