Description

Make your own delicious horchata at home with this recipe for Oat Horchata Agua Fresca. Made with oat puree, evaporated milk, and a cinnamon stick this Oat Horchata has a rich texture and flavor. You can strain the horchata before adding the flavorings and sweetener or leave it as is for a thicker drink. Sweeten to to personal preference with sugar or your favorite sweetener and flavor to taste with ground cinnamon and vanilla extract.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oats
  • 4 liters water
  • 1 cinnamon sticks
  • 378 grams evaporated milk (canned)
  • sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. 1In a blender, add the oats and enough water to cover them. Puree.
  2. 2Set aside, letting it rest for 10 minutes.
  3. 3Puree the oats again, adding the cinnamon stick.
  4. 4Strain or leave as is.
  5. 5Add evaporated milk, water, sugar to taste, vanilla extract (optional), and ground cinnamon to taste.
  6. 6Add ice and serve cold.
