- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Spray a 9- or 10-inch-square cake pan liberally with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
- Place the butter, sugar, and vanilla into a large mixing bowl. Use a mixer to cream the ingredients together on medium-high speed for 1-2 minutes, or until smooth. Add the eggs, sour cream, and buttermilk, and continue beating for a minute longer, until the mixture is light and fluffy.
