Dessert need not be complicated to be delicious. This recipe for Musician's Dessert instead of suggesting something to make or bake, instead provides a suggestion for a dried fruit and nut platter that can be served alongside digestif as an after dinner treat. You can mix all of the nuts and fruits together and serve together in a bowl or serve the fruits and nuts separate according to kind, allowing guests to assemble their own mixture.

Ingredients

  • 1 handful hazelnuts
  • 1 handful pine nuts
  • 1 handful almonds
  • 1 handful walnuts
  • 1 handful dried apricots
  • 1 handful raisins
  • 1 handful dried figs
  • 1 handful prunes

Directions

  1. Place each handful of fruit or nuts on a platter to serve, grouped according to kind.

The recipe recommends keeping the piles separated, but I mixed them all together to make a sweet and salty trail mix. I served in a bowl. Guests were able to pick out their favorites or try a mix of flavors together.
