There is nothing quite like a fresh tomato in the height of summer. Their flavor is unlike anything else and when they are this fresh the best way to enjoy them is raw. This simple salad only features a few ingredients, letting the tomatoes be the star of the show. Purple onion, basil, and marjoram are the perfect accents to tender tomatoes. This simple salad is best enjoyed outside on a hot summer day!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 red onion
  • 1 tomato (beef heart)
  • 1 tomato (pineapple)
  • 3 tomatoes (small green zebra)
  • 1/2 cup basil (chopped)
  • marjoram
  • olive oil
  • sea salt
  • ground black pepper

Directions

  1. Cut the onion into thin slices and separate the rings.
  2. Cut the tomatoes into thin slices. Arrange the tomato slices on a large plate by alternating the colours.
  3. Sprinkle with the red onion rings, chopped basil and marjoram leaves from a few sprigs.
  4. Drizzle a little bit of olive oil and season with salt and black ground pepper.
