This recipe for mulled wine uses port wine as its base and to it adds chocolate for a rich undertone and features spices such as rosemary, cloves, and cinnamon. Ingredients

  • 400 milliliters port wine
  • 1 apple (medium)
  • 50 grams chocolate (70% cocoa)
  • 1 sprig rosemary
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 100 grams brown sugar (or yellow)
  • 30 grams cocoa powder
  • 2 anise (stars of)

Directions

  1. Boil in a saucepan the wine, sugar, cocoa, and spices, and let it boil.
  2. Cut the apple in half and add to the pan.
  3. Finally, add the chocolate until it melts.
  4. Let boil on very low heat for a few minutes.
  5. Serve while hot.

A 5 star recipe I will indulge in all the time. The mulled wine was slightly bitter which was offset by the sweetness of the chocolate spices.
