Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup green olives (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup black olives (finely chopped)
  • 4 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup bell peppers (canned, chopped)
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano (ground)
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1 baguette
  • 250 grams mortadella (thinly sliced)
  • 250 grams salami (sliced)
  • 200 grams fresh mozzarella cheese (sliced)
  • lettuce leaves
  • 1 tomato (coarsely chopped)

Directions

  1. One day before assembling the muffuletta, mix all the ingredients for the dressing. Cover and refrigerate.
  2. 2 hours before serving the muffuletta, cut the baguette open. Remove some of the inside and spread half of the dressing on the inside. Add the mortadella, salami, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and the rest of the dressing. Serve.

I couldn't find mortadella at my supermarket, but you can substitute prosciutto or any other deli meat that you like. This sandwich was unique and I served it at high tea for a group of friends. It has unique flavors and was a big hit
